Staff...

All of our workers have completed our RISK management class
and also our basic First Steps training/orientaion.

RISK Education

RISK education is an hour long class explaining our safety policies and procedure as it relates to the Children of ABC. The safety of the children and volunteers is very important to us. Every volunteer working with children under the age of 18 must complete this class. They are all given a packet to read and take home and they fill out two forms, one is a background check that we send to Consumer Reporting Agency and get updated if anything is ever filed against that person and one is a volunteer application that gives us a general picture of each person and their walk with Christ.

First Steps Training

This training is about an hour long in which we go over specific details of our First Step classes and also review some of the RISK education class. Each volunteer gets a job description sheet with detailed description of their area of ministry and they fill out a commitment sheet.

INFANT & WALKERS

Even the tiniest of babies get a Bible story and activity! We use Little Blessings from www.gospellight.com . We have a teaching poster in the room which the teacher uses to teach your child. They are simple short verses and songs which we change monthly. We try and take every opportunity to teach your child about Jesus, when they are playing, being held and getting changed our teachers go over the songs and verses! We provide a take home paper telling you what your child has been doing and hearing each month.

Check-in & Out:

FIRST VISIT

Everyone who uses our nurseries needs to check in at the check in counter located in the family center. The first time you visit ABC you will need to fill out a registration form. It has all the child’s information on it including other adults authorized to pick up the child, allergy, medical or custody issues.

Each child also receives a claim ticket which is a three part label, one for the child’s back, one for if the child has any belongings and the back is the actual claim ticket that the parents take with them that has a claim number.  You will also sign in your child on the roster in their class room. We have the parents initial in when they drop off and then initial out and turn in their claim ticketwhen they pick up their child.

If you are needed during the service your claim number will flash on the top right side of the screen in the worship center or in downtown video. If you are in a Sunday school class one of our volunteers will come and find you.

SPECIAL ALERTS

We have two special alert tags for anyone with a special custody situation or any type of medical or allergies issue. We ask that you fill this out every time your child visits the classes as well as verbally letting the teacher know in the classroom..

Returning Members

Once you have filled out a registration card the next time you come to ABC your child will be enrolled in our computer and their name will be added to the class roster.  You will still check in at the counter but you will only be asked your last name, your street name then your child’s name. There is also a self check-in station. You will then get printed labels for your child which has a claim number already printed on it. One will be for their back and one as your claim ticket. Infant & Walkers get an extra tag for their belongings. You will also need to sign in your child on the roster in their class room. Don’t forget to bring your claim sticker back to the class room. If you do not have your tag, you will need to see the Early Childhood Coordinator.

Sickness Policy

In respect to our volunteers and the other children we ask that if your child has any of the following symptoms or illnesses that you please keep them out of the class.

Fever -- Impetigo
Runny Nose -- Active Chicken Pox
Questionable Rashes -- Measles
Coughing -- Mumps
Diarrhea -- Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye)

If your child is being treated with antibiotics, he/she should be on the drug for at least 24 hours before coming to class.

If your child has a continually clear runny nose or rash due to non-contagious allergies, please let us know. We realize that some symptoms hang on long after the child is no longer contagious. Remember that we want all of our children to remain healthy and happy.

If we allow sick children in our classes we chance not being able to open them next week due to sick volunteers. We appreciate your concern and cooperation.

OTHER OPTIONS IF YOUR CHILD IS SICK

Below are some other options for you if your child is sick. We still want you to be able to enjoy the services ABC provides.

• We have reserved seating in the back pew on the right side of the sanctuary for parents and their children.

• We have a mothers room located in the back of the sanctuary so you can see and hear the service when your child's volume becomes distracting to those around you.

• We have Downtown video in the student center which is a great option for families and dads with young children.

• There is a TV on the inside and ouitside of the information booth.

Snacks Served

We realize that there are a lot of children affected by food allergies that is why we only provide the same few snack options in our classes. There are no snacks served in our infant class due to the different developmental stages of the children. Below are the snacks and ingredients that we provide. Once in awhile a teacher will bring in a special snack but will post what they are serving next to the check in sheets. If your child has an allergy to any foods please fill out an appropriate alert tag and inform the teacher every time you visit our classes.
