Tom Ferrell
Senior Pastor

Pastor Tom Ferrell and his wife, Gail, came to Atascadero Bible
Church in November of 1984. Tom came to serve Christ in the 1970’s
at Los Gatos Christian Church where he eventually served as one
of several Youth Ministers there. Upon graduation from Biola College
in 1980, Tom helped plant a church in Walnut, California, in conjunction
with completing a Master of Divinity degree from Talbot Theological
Seminary. After serving as the Associate Pastor for four years in
Walnut, Tom accepted the call to Pastor at ABC. Tom is deeply committed
to expositional Bible teaching and building leaders for the future.
He and Gail have been married since 1979 and have three children.
He enjoys outdoor activities, motorcycling, and coaching youth sports.
Tom’s favorite scripture is II Corinthians 4:5.

Ron Smith
Missions/Connections Pastor

Ron and Dorie came to ABC the summer of 1996. Ron and Dorie knew Tom and Gail from High School days at Los Gatos Christian Church in San Jose years ago. Through repeated invitations, the time was right and the Smiths took Tom up and came to Atascadero. Ron brings a wealth of experience in the areas of Outreach, Connections, and ‘people ministry’. Ron has an AS degree in Biomedical Engineering, a BA in Music, and a MA in Sacred Ministry from Multnomah Seminary. Married to Dorie in 1980, they have three children, Ryan (wife Jen, son Riley), Brad (wife Hannah, son Hudson), and Emyle. Ron is passionate in equipping/affirming others for service locally and globally. He enjoys cycling all over the North County and even doing ‘honey-dos’ along with Dorie. Joshua 1:7-8 is a favorite of Ron’s.

Jay Ables
Children and Family Ministry Pastor

Jay has been ministering to children and
their families since 1991. He joined the ABC staff in 2007 after
spending 9 years serving as the administrator for North Kern Christian
School in Wasco, CA and 8 years working as a youth pastor in the
Central Valley. Jay enjoys ministering to families by providing
marriage and family counseling and has spoken for various men’s
events, couples retreats and family related conferences. In 1995
he and his wife, Janet, founded a ministry known as Heart of the
Home which seeks to mentor and encourage young families. Jay graduated
with a Master’s of Divinity degree from The Master’s
Seminary and has a passion for training up children and their parents
so they can impact the world for Christ. Jay and Janet have been
married for 23 years and have four children, Amy, Ashley, Austin
and Addison. Jay enjoys traveling to Washington D.C. & Philadelphia,
PA providing students and adults with a Christian view of our nation’s
history. One of his favorite passages is Acts 17:11.

Adam Weatherby
Senior High Youth Pastor

Adam oversees ABC's Student Ministries, while specifically overseeing the high school and college age ministries. Adam earned a B.A. in Church Leadership from Bethany College and obtained a M.A. in Religion from Liberty Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Brenda, married in 1996 and have two children, Conner and Dana. Adam has worked at ABC since January of 2000 and enjoys music, outdoor activities, and being with people. His favorite Scripture passage is Job 38-40.

Mike Smith
Jr. High / College Pastor

Mike joined the ABC staff in August of 2009. He served previously at Whittier Area Community Church doing Junior high and then High school ministry. While at WACC he met his wife Mary and they have been married in 2002. He then served at Community Christian Church in Anaheim Hills where he was the Pastor to Staff and Students. He has 13 years of youth ministry experience, a BA in Christian Education from Biola University and a Master's Degree in Christian Apologetics. His unique gifting has placed him at ABC to do Junior High and College Ministry. He enjoys surfing, reading, basketball and games. One of his favorite passages of scripture is 1 Peter 3:15-16.

Jeff Urke
Worship Art Minister

Growing up in the Sacramento area with a love for music, Jeff is passionate about leading others into God's presence through worship. A gifted musician, Jeff also excels at 'team building', bringing together people for a common cause. God has rounded out Jeff academically with a Bachelors in Intercultural Studies and an interdisciplinary minor in Music and Biblical Studies. He is proficient at the other side of music, the technical one, through music production training with Yamaha and the Berklee School of Music. Equipping students for worship at Biola, producing recorded music at Hume Lake, and leading worship in various church and ministry settings presents to Atascadero Bible Church a very gifted young man.
Jeff's wife, Cheryl, is a graduate of Biola majoring in Social Work (BS from Biola and MSW from SDSU) and is passionate towards seeing God's church
provide Biblical answers and direction to a very needed society around us. Jeff and Cheryl have two young children, Aubrie and Caden.

Chris Key
Administrator

Chris Key has been in the North County since 1960 and began attending
ABC in April 1969. In the late 1970s, Chris served on the staff
of ABC in various positions of administration and youth ministry
for three years before leaving in 1982 to pastor Garden Farms Church
and the Parkhill Community Church. In 1994, Chris returned to ABC
in the position of administrator. He and his wife, Linda, have five
children and thirteen grandchildren who are one of their greatest hobbies.
Chris also enjoys carpentry, missions trips to Mexico, teaching
Bible study and one-on-one discipleship.

Kyle Zimmerman

Kyle joined the ABC staff in August 2010. He has served at Friends Church in Yorba Linda, CA in children’s ministry while attending Biola University. There he received a B.A. in Christian Education Ministries with a minor in Biblical & Theological Studies. Kyle has also served at High Desert Church and at Forest Home Christian Camp in children’s and camping ministry. Kyle’s passion is to see children develop a strong foundation through a partnership of the church and family to train up the next generation of world changers. One of his favorite passages of scripture is 1 Corinthians 11:1.

Janet Ables
Women's Ministry Director

Janet and her family came to ABC in August of 2007. After teaching Bible studies and being a part of the Women’s Ministry Team, she became the Women’s Ministry Director in June of 2009. Janet holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from California State University and prior to coming to ABC she spent over 10 years directing a non-profit ministry she founded known as Heart of the Home. This ministry allowed Janet the opportunity to encourage and equip women in their roles as wives, mothers and mentors. Janet and her husband, Jay, have been married for 26 years and have 4 children. In addition to leading Women’s Ministries at ABC, Janet enjoys writing Bible study curriculum and speaking at women’s retreats and conferences.
